My landscapes tend to be views of Northumberland. It is an expansive landscape, with long, low hills. The interesting details are almost always far in the distance. The air is often so clear that the light seems to have a fine sparkle about it.

I love the British coastline. The synergy of sea and sky is perpetually fascinating. I am conscious that the seas and oceans are still the least-explored areas of our planet.

My landscapes and seascapes rarely show people, but they usually have some traces of human activity in them, even if just a spot of yellow indicating a field of rape in the distance, or a straight-edged line of trees.
